So often children and we as adults, try to put God in human terms. I remember thinking as a young Christian, “How can God possibly keep an eye on all of us?” T he re are billions of people on earth, that seems impossible, in human terms. But God is not human, he is like nothing our tiny human brains can even fathom. I say all of this as a preface for the analogy I am about to give, I give this illustration not as a comparison between God and humans or humans and ants but as a reminder of His vision of the earth.
I remember my sister having an ant farm when we were growing up. You could sit and watch the ants dig their tunnels, go get food, move around and live their daily life. We must have put food and water in there, but I don’t remember it. T he ants went along in their daily life, doing their work with the faith that someone would provide for them as needed. T he re were hundreds of ants in that ant farm and relatively speaking I could sit in front of that ant farm plexiglass and see all of the ants at once.
I have purchased an ant farm as a reminder that I am just a tiny little ant who continues to do my work on earth with a strong faith that God is watching me through his giant plexiglass, providing for me as needed.
