Got water?

Drinking water is incredibly important in the weight loss process.  Water gives you energy, fights cravings and… well, you are made up of 80% water so it stands to reason that you should drink some each day, right?

When I say water, I mean water – H20.  2 hydrogens and 1 oxygen.  Not coffee, tea, flavored water, sports drinks, etc.  Water, plain old water.  If you need to, place a lemon or lime wedge in the bottom of your bottle – it gives it a little flavor.

There is too much debate about how much water.  Rather than go back and forth, I tell clients that the goal is to get 64 ounces of water each day.  Start with a little in the morning, even before your coffee and drink water throughout the day.  No other fluids until you have had your water for  the day.  So, finish early and you can treat yourself to the beverage of your choice, low cal of course!

Here is a simple way to track your water and hit your consumption goal each day.  Start your day with a full 16 ounce bottle of water and place 4 bands at the bottom.  During the day when you finish the bottle, move a band to the top.  At the end of the day, your bottle should be empty and your bands at the top of your bottle.  Go ahead, drink up!
